Founded in 1968, the family-owned John Scott Meat company has grown from over 200 years farming in the West of Scotland to the successful meat processor that you know today.
Started by John Scott as an egg run around Greenock’s local butchers, the success of our business has continued over the years due to our passion for providing top quality meats to all our customers. The family’s strong reputation allowed us to gain a stance at the Dumbarton abattoir in 1968 and our progression to our current location in Paisley followed shortly after in 1973.

Building strong relationships with his local butchers was paramount to John’s success – the rapport he was able to create with them meant it was not long before the Scott family farm became their trusted source for beef. He valued building long-term relationships with his customers, and this is a value we continue to carry with us today.
Now into our 3rd generation, we continue to be a family-owned and run business. John’s daughter, Hazel Scott, joined the business in 1977 and is now our Managing Director. John’s son, Jamie Scott joined the business in the mid-90s, shortly before John’s decision to retire to the family farm with his wife, Elsie, in 1998.
John’s grandsons are actively involved in the business, with Jason Ward joining us in 2012 and John Scott (Jnr) dividing his time between the family farm and our Paisley abattoir.
